Other Cultural Activities

  

SANKALP’s other major activities in culture include;


  • Serving as a catalyst of creativity; where the government agencies, non-governmental Organisations, civil society and private sector may join together in elaborating the concepts, objectives and policies in favour of cultural diversity;
  • Deepening the national and international debates relating to cultural diversity, particularly in respect of its link with development and its impact on policy-making, at both national and international level;
  • Fostering the exchange of knowledge and best practices in regards to cultural pluralism, with a view to facilitating the inclusion and participation of various persons and groups from varied cultural backgrounds;
  • To work towards treating cultural goods and commodities as commodities of a unique kind- as vectors of cultural identity, values and meaning, and not as mere commodities or consumer goods;
  • Inspiring a genuine dialogue between the regional cultures;
  • Emphasizing on the importance of the interaction between cultural diversity, human rights and cultural rights, and the need to highlight the links between cultural diversity and sustainable development;
  • Encouraging linguistic diversity by giving support to expression, creation and dissemination in the greatest possible number of languages as well as by fostering the learning of different languages from the youngest age; and
  • Striving to enhance the creative capacities of the upcoming artists.
