Protection and revitalization of heritage & culture of indigenous people

Protection and revitalization of the cultural expressions and resources of indigenous people, who are the custodians of the vitality of the planet, is one of the main planks of SANKALP’s cultural activities. The Organisation’s activities include;

  1. Empowering them to make choice and retain their cultural identity;
  2. Educating both indigenous and non-indigenous societies on the situations, cultures, rights, and aspirations of the indigenous people;
  3. Raising awareness and disseminate information on as well as to further dialogue on indigenous issues-on the specific needs and concerns of indigenous people and their communities;
  4. Respecting and protecting traditional knowledge, in particular that of indigenous peoples;
  5. Recognizing the contribution of traditional knowledge with regards to environmental protection, natural resource management and bio-diversity preservation;  and
  6. Fostering synergies between modern and local knowledge.
